Bachazouk is not simply the combination of two pre-existing dance styles such as bachata and zouk, nor the addition of isolated elements from one style into the other. For us, Bachazouk represents a new dance style with its own identity, built through a technical, artistic, and structural approach that differentiates it from both bachata and zouk.

For years, even before we, Carlos and Paz, started dancing bachata and zouk together, dancers experimented with blending elements of both disciplines. Yet many of those attempts lacked formal technique, a structured system, or in-depth study. They were often temporary adaptations that never consolidated into a true style.

In our view, creating a new dance style goes far beyond introducing occasional moves or figures. It requires solid foundations, technical fundamentals, and a conceptual framework that supports both practice and teaching. Bachazouk is therefore the result of a conscious process of analysis, experimentation, and systematization where every element drawn from bachata and zouk has been adapted and redefined to form a coherent, distinctive whole.

This unique style not only offers its own aesthetic and technique; it is rooted in deep respect for the traditions that shaped it. We recognize bachata and zouk as the essential influences behind this movement, and we strive to communicate their origins with complete transparency. Without them, Bachazouk would not exist, so while we consolidate its identity as an independent style, we consistently honor the genres that inspired it.

With this perspective, we treat Bachazouk as a complete discipline with rules, principles, and fundamentals that allow both dancers and teachers to understand its essence, master its technique, and explore its artistic potential.
